May 6-9 Wacky Hats
Celebrate Kentucky Derby weekend with your wild hats!  The Kentucky Derby, the first horse race of the famed Triple Crown, takes place the first Saturday in May and the hats are outrageous.  But on a serious note – wearing a hat is a great way to protect yourself from sun damage. Forgot your hat?  Don’t worry Pinelands Adventures has you covered with their great selection of hats in their store.

May 13 – 16 Thank You Mom!
Recognize the moms and women in your life by wearing pink and floral patterns. Don’t forget to accessorize in flowers! The Pinelands are home to a delightful array of wild orchids.  About 30 species occur within the Pinelands National Reserve and several. like Rose Pogonia and Grasspink, are seen along Pine Barrens streams and in wet meadows.

May 20-23 Time Travel Weekend
Dress in any decade you wish.  Go back to the past or Back to the Future.  See something groovy on the river this weekend!

May 27 – 30 Memorial Day Weekend
Wear yellow in support of those that have made the ultimate sacrifice.  We will be hosting a letter writing event for A Million Thanks organization to share in thanking our service members here and overseas.  Learn how to participate here.

Important Theme Weekend Safety Considerations

Theme weekends are fun but safety and protection of the environment is paramount.  You must follow these guidelines:

  1. Any costumes or accessories cannot impede in the safety of your paddle or restrict movement. Clothing/items should not cause unsafe conditions if you end up submerged in water to swim/egress to safety.
  2. Refrain from glitter, paints, beads that can end up in the water if submerged or any permanent tapes/glues/stickers that can harm boats/equipment.  Do not bring/wear anything that you do not want getting wet or damaged.
  3. Guests are still required to wear life vests over any costumes/apparel.  No offensive language or graphics.  Accessorize with hats, sunglasses, face paint!
