Moth Night at Pine Tree Center
Join Pinelands Adventures for an evening exploration of the night life of the Pine Barrens at Pine Tree Center!
As the sun sets and the forest darkens, a hidden world of moths, beetles, and other nocturnal insects emerges. With the help of special lights and sheets, we’ll attract and observe a dazzling array of moth species—many of which play vital roles as pollinators and as part of the food web that supports birds, bats, and other wildlife.
Along the trails, UV lights will help us uncover glowing caterpillars and other nighttime surprises. Local experts and other naturalists will share insights into moth ecology, the importance of native plants as host species, and the surprising diversity that thrives after dark in the Pinelands!

This program is recommended for adults and children 8 and older. Please bring a folding chair, flashlight or headlamp, and water. Please contact Pinelands Adventures if you have specific accessibility needs so we can make adjustments to ensure you have a great experience. Long pants and sleeves are recommended rather than insect repellant which may harm the creatures we are trying to attract.
