Hey New Jersey! Imagine what life would be like without access to clean water - totally different.
This #WaterQualityMonth, we wanted to share the importance of the Kirkwood-Cohansey Aquifer within the Pine Barrens and ways to protect the quality of our water source:
-It contains more than 17 trillion gallons of fresh water and lies beneath most of southern New Jersey.
-Water flowing out of the ground from the aquifer represents about 90 percent of all water flowing in the streams and rivers in the Pinelands and southern New Jersey.
-It supplies clean, fresh water to the Delaware River and Bay.
-The aquifer is the groundwater supply for about one million residents and visitors in southern New Jersey, including shore communities.
-Water pumped from the aquifer helps irrigate about 200,000 acres of farmlands
How to help protect water sources:
-Use and dispose of harmful materials properly
-Join in a beach, stream, or wetland cleanup
-Support local farms
-Plant a rain garden

Reminiscing on our school group trips from June!
We love to see kids getting out on the water. For some, it is their first time in a kayak or canoe. Overall, everyone always seems to enjoy the new experience!

We are experiencing an extreme dry spell in southern New Jersey. Rivers in the Pine Barrens are shallow by nature and this weather pattern is not helping! We want to provide you with the best nature experience the Pine Barrens has to offer so we have to make some changes to our programs.
We are taking reservations for the 4-hour Batsto River trip (Quaker Bridge to Batsto Lake). It is a gorgeous river and a lovely trip!
But we have suspended trips on the Mullica River until further notice due to exceptionally low water levels. This includes the 1.5 hour, 2 hour, 5 hour, 8 hour and Mullica River overnight trips. We can’t resume these trips until Mother Nature comes through with a good storm. You can bet that as soon as that happens these trips will be open!
Guests with current reservations on the Mullica River will be contacted with options to switch, postpone or cancel.
Please be advised, guests along the Batsto and Mullica Rivers may still witness smoldering and fire activity from the latest wildfire in Wharton State Forest. All recreationalists should remain vigilant while exploring this area as there are still hot spots and high potential for falling trees and branches. It is normal for small fires to still be present and park staff has asked guests to keep your distance from these areas. NJ's Forest Fire Service is still observing the area, therefore there is no need to report these residual smoldering spots.
Thank you for your understanding while we wait for river conditions to improve so we can provide you with the best nature experience the Pine Barrens has to offer!
So many beautiful views to see when you're on the water!

As of July 1st:
At this time, we can offer the 4-hour Quaker Bridge to Batsto, 2-hour Atsion to Locks Bridge, and 1.5-hour Shorty self-guided trips only.
Unfortunately, we must cancel all 5-hour, 8-hour, and Mullica River Overnight trips until further notice.
Mullica River Campsite is slated to reopen by the Park Service after July 15th for potentially backpacking only.
Mullica River from Mile Marker 3 (Locks Bridge) to Mile Marker 12 (Pleasant Mills) will be closed indefinitely until extensive river clearing is completed. We will not be taking new Mullica River overnight paddle and camp trip requests until we have the river cleared.
Thank you to the Wharton State Park Staff and the NJ Forest Fire Service for all of your assistance during this time to get the forest ready for visitors again.

Pinelands Adventures has suspended trips until further notice due to the current wildfire affecting Wharton State Forest, where we operate. We do not have any expected timeframe as to when trips can safely resume, and ask for your understanding as we take this day by day and the fire is contained.
Thank you to all of the fire and emergency services for the hasty response and continued battle. Be safe!

"The best value adventure you're going to find. Easy paddling in a pristine environment where the only sounds you'll hear are the insects and birdsong...The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The price of admission is ridiculously low for this kind of experience"
