You will be put to the test on our challenging cross-country orienteering course.
So you took the Orienteering Basics course and now you’re ready to add to your land navigation skill set. Come spend five hours with Donald “Ski” Sulewski to learn more advanced skills using a map and compass. In this class you’ll learn:
- How to take your location from your GPS then plot it on a map using both Military Grid Reference System (MGRS) and Latitude/Longitude.
- How to triangulate your location using terrain features to pinpoint your location and then navigate to a new point.
Utilizing these advanced skills, you will be put to the test on our challenging cross-country orienteering course. Successful completion of this class will provide the skills and confidence to venture further out into the wilderness. Maps and compasses are provided, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
Note: Orienteering Basics course is a prerequisite to register for this advanced course.
