Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and smells of the forest on our guided “Shinrin Yoku” inspired forest bathing walk. We invite you to unplug, slow down, and reconnect while falling in love with nature. Be a part of rekindling the ancient relationship between humans and the forest.
What is Forest Bathing? In 1982, Tomohide Akiyama of the Japanese Ministry of agriculture coined the term “forest bathing”, or Shinrin Yoku, as a way to garner intrinsic value from the forest without causing harm to the environment. Since then, the practice has gained the attention of scientists and healers all over the world.
Let go of distractions and errant thoughts as you gently explore the forest with all of your senses, be fully present, and see the world again through the eyes of your inner child.
You’ll be guided through a series of invitations beginning with a short ride to a carefully selected forest trail. After setting our intentions, we’ll prepare by finding stillness and connection to our breath, followed by a slow walk to notice what is around us in the present moment. We’ll explore ways to nurture connections to nature through quiet observation, movement, or other exploration followed by sitting and just being with those connections. Finally, you’ll be invited to share what you’ve experienced while we all enjoy tea, snacks, and good conversation before returning from our walk.
Duration 2-3 hours, best for ages 14+
Note: Guide will supply the tea in a reusable camp cup. Please feel free to bring your own signature brew or your own cup/mug.
