Mycology Walk
Join Sam Bucciarelli of the Philadelphia Mycology Club for a mushroom and fungus identification hike!
Join us for a guided mushroom walk with Sam Bucciarelli of the Philadelphia Mycology Club. Learn the basics of mushroom hunting and get familiar with how to identify common species. Experience the joys of community science while learning to make meaningful observations of fungal diversity in our ecosystems.
This trip will meet at the Batsto Visitor Center. Here is a link to directions.
Guests should wear comfortable hiking/walking shoes. We will mainly be walking on packed sand, but there will be areas with softer sand or areas that are wet. Waterproof hiking boots are the best option. Dress in layers and be prepared for the weather. Remember, it’s often chillier in the forest! Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, and anything else that you need for a successful hike.
About Sam:
She is a land management professional with a passion for ecology, especially as it pertains to fungi and the role they play in helping our ecosystems thrive. Sam grew up in the NJ Pinelands, but she has spent the last 4 years learning about the flora, fauna, and funga in the Greater Philadelphia area. She spends her free time sharing that passion with others.
