Essentials of Fire Making
Even with matches or a lighter, fire making in the wilderness is never guaranteed.
Whether you are trying to purify water, cook food, or just stay warm, making a fire is one of the most important skills of wilderness survival. Come spend the day with Don “Ski” Sulewski, for three-hours of fun as we learn how to build and maintain a survival fire in the Pine Barrens.
Even with matches or a lighter, fire making in the wilderness is never guaranteed. One’s success depends upon knowing the possible materials available, where to find them, and how best to utilize them. We will also conduct hands-on training for alternate fire starting methods including flint and steel and bow drill. At the end of this workshop, everyone will walk away with new skills enabling her/him to safely and effectively start a responsible survival fire in the wilderness.
