Beaver Ecology Tour
Paddle through Goshen Pond and observe the incredible structures beavers have created while our guide talks about the ways beavers have influenced the rivers and lakes around us.
Did you know that present day Goshen Pond, part of the Mullica River and a postindustrial habitat, is maintained by a colony of furry engineers? Extirpated in NJ due to the pre-colonial/colonial trade, efforts beginning in the 1930s to bring them back have been very successful. Once again, beavers have taken their place as a keystone species in the pinelands ecosystem. Paddle with one of our experienced guides and marvel at their amazing constructions, drift along a cedar lined riverbank, and observe the rich biodiversity this unique area has to offer. Look and listen, you never know what may show up!
