Up the River without a Paddle

The 2017 New Jersey State Government Shutdown

One of the unfortunate consequences of the New Jersey State Government Shutdown is the closing of all State Parks and Forests. Pinelands Adventures provides paddling experiences for our customers on the Batsto and Mullica Rivers, within Wharton State Forest. The State sells permits that allow liveries like ours to operate. As a result of the parks being closed, our permits have been suspended and we are unable to access the rivers until our government can pass a budget.

This closure means that we can’t offer self-guided, naturalist guided, school, camp or group programs until this shutdown is over. Many of these groups and families have had reservations in place for months! The hardest part of this shutdown for us is that we are unable to provide the service that our customers have come to expect.

Due to the nature of our seasonal business, we depend on being able to take advantage of every nice day to put our customers on the river. The July 4th holiday weekend (and all of July) have traditionally been very busy, making this the worst time for us to be closed.

The entire Pinelands Adventures Team apologizes for this inconvenience and hopes that you, your family and friends will be able to join us as soon as this matter in Trenton is resolved.
